People go to Dumbarton to do their supermarket shopping at the minute. Does this impact on Helensburgh town centre? Yes - it does. At least the Waitrose supermarket would draw people in our town direction e.g. people from Cardross and from the peninsular and also Arrochar way - saving them traveling all the way to Dumbarton to do their big shop.

I fully support the Waitrose proposal. The pierhead is no place for a supermarket and petrol station. The people who shop locally, will continue to do so. This is not going to be a store selling clothes, electricals, etc. it's a food store. Both Asda and Morrisons sell more than just food. That's why Dumbarton has been affected so badly. Waitrose should not have the negative impact the scaremongers are alleging.

Only 14 retailers out of helensburghs 240 showed up at this meeting. This article is misleading and does not represent the majority of the retailers in the town.
