It is such a shame URTV only thought of speaking to the Waitrose camp, no coverage was given to the people who objected to it, it just seems very unbalanced!

Hi David we were there for nine hours and not one person who was anti the proposal would speak on camera. At the closure of the debate we sought interviews with some of the objectors but they did not wish to speak...If any of the objectors would like to talk or add comment please let us know (News@urtv.co.uk) we have gone to great lengths to provide a balanced view throughout the last 9 months of covering this very important story..(http://helensburgh.tv/threads/336-waitrose)

OK well in that case I retract my last comment, at least you tried and if they can't be bothered to comment then thats that then.

I hope the council will move quickly to strengthen the town centre as a retail proposition, by immediately removing the parking charges in the town centre, a so creating a level playing field with the planned waitrose car park.

Well done Helensburgh.tv. Your reporting on this issue has been accurate, fair and objective, in stark contrast to the recent hysterical headlines in The Helensburgh Advertiser. We should all be celebrating the rejuvenation of our town that will result from the CHORD project and yesterday's decision to approve the Waitrose application.

URTV should be delighted with the coverage they have given over the last few months.I would completely disagree that it was one-sided .The articles and news coverage were excellent journalism unlike some recent reports in weekly papers which were ludicrous and unresearched and most of all bad judgements.I for one will now be following them for my HELENSBURGH updates constantly .What a great assett to the town well done URTV.

Hi Melanie, you would make a great presenter !! lets get do Helensburgh version of Hardtalk Mr Curley and Cllr Dance that would be better than x Factor.Or even better Jackie bailey and Cllr Dance doing some mud wrestling. Who needs Simon Cowel.

Now that the Waitrose decision is clear to go can the local shopkeepers face up to some proper competition and sharpen up by trying to be effective retailers rather than moaners. How about reviewing local rip off prices and investing in decent looking shops, proper service etc.

While i agree helensburgh needs a supermarket. Waitrose is all wrong. Waitrose is not a supermarket, its another cooperative, they do sell branded goods but the emphasis and pricing reflects their focus on own brands. YES THEY PRICE MATCH branded goods they have an extremely limited branded stock compared with Tesco or any of the other major retailers. Its more inline with a Marks and Spencers, its not a place where an average family would do their weekly shop. A weekly shop in a waitrose would probably cost double to triple what it would in Asda/Tesco/Sainsburies etc.
