A full scale ‘store wars’ looks set to unfold, as supermarket chain Sainsbury’s announce plans to regenerate the Heart of Helensburgh.
Motorists have been warned that a section of the 82 trunk road between Tarbert and Crainlarich will be closed to through traffic for five nights next week.
Residents of Helensburgh and lomond are being urged to nominate their health heros ahead of this year’s Scottish Health Awards 2011.
Pupils from Lomond School’s T1 and T2 classes have spent the past two weeks experiencing the glitzy lifestyle of a pop superstar, as they recorded their own pop record.

A full scale ‘store wars’ looks set to unfold, as supermarket chain Sainsbury’s announce plans to regenerate the Heart of Helensburgh. Sainsbury is the latest supermarket chain to show interest in Helensburgh, with Waitrose having alraedy submitted an application for a site opposite Hermitage Academy and Asda announcing its interest in the town centre. Sainsbury’s have revealed plans of creating a mixed development on the Helensburgh Pier site, which could include a foodstore, petrol station and office accommodation. The supermarket giant will be undertaking a full public consultation exercise in the coming weeks with local residents and local businesses to gather feedback before lodging a planning application to Argyll & Bute Council. Motorists have been warned that a section of the 82 trunk road between Tarbert and Crainlarich will be closed to through traffic for five nights next week. The roadworks, due to be carried out by Scotland TranServ on behalf of Transport Scotland, will involve twenty thousand pounds of improvements to safety and drainage. The road closures will run from Sunday the 11th of September to Thursday the 15th of September, between the road from 10 pm to 6 am. The road will be closed between the A82/A83 junction at Tarbet and the A82/A85 junction at Crianlarich, with emergency and local access maintained. Motorists are being advised to allow extra time for their journeys and pay attention to any advisory signs which will be in place throughout the works.
